human9000 x isha naguiat
During the Pla8tAir digital residency, Isha and Mila worked in the context of digital humanity. As an addition to their long-term project intersection, the two artists used their amassed collection of old photographs and studied the individual and its role in a new world. Using both artists' signature stylistic elements, i.e. Isha's embroidery and Mila's processing of photography, their work HUMAN9000 illustrates the process of digital dehumanization in different phases. The uniqueness of any individual becomes a pattern. Every face can be stripped to a data mask. Ironically, after distortion, this data mask is the only thing that leaves a trace – a literal red thread in a ever-changing environment.
